Villa Vizcaya is a magnificent Italian villa on Biscayne Bay that has often been called the finest private home ever built in America. Built in the early 1900's, Vizcaya was the winter residence of American industrialist James Deering. Construction on the Villa began in 1914 and as many as 1,000 artisans worked on it during the following years to create a masterpiece of architectural, interior and garden design. The splendid Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical rooms have been restored to their original splendor, and are now open for your viewing pleasure.

Coral Gables Merrick House stands as a tribute to the history of South Florida, and is an outstanding example of early Coral Gables architecture. The Merrick House was the home of Reverend Solomon G. Merrick, his wife Althea, and their six children. It was the Merrick’s oldest son, George, who founded and developed the city of Coral Gables, which was incorporated in 1925. Today, the house exists much as it did in the 1920’s and is filled with the Merrick family’s artwork, photographs, furniture and personal treasures.
